- "My name is Ao Feihu, and I am from Chongquing, 36 years old. I'm a geography teacher. The robot we brought to compete this time is called Flame Wind-Fire Wheel. Its most outstanding feature is the three-sided electric saws for an all-round attack. As long as you devote yourself to it, you can become a robot expert."
- — Ao Feihu on Blazing Hot Wheels (Mech+ subtitles)
烈焰风火轮 (romanized as Lièyàn fēng huǒ lún, translating to Blazing Hot Wheels, referred to in the Mech+ version as Flame Wind-Fire Wheel) was a robot from Chongqing, China, which fought in the first season of King of Bots. In its only appearance, it lost its first-round battle to Japanese entry Ninja General on a Judges’ decision, after sustaining damage from the arena hazards.
Design[]
Blazing Hot Wheels was a gray, square frustrum-shaped robot with a cylindrically-shaped turret on top. The turret and served as the mount for the robot’s primary weapons – three circular cutting discs mounted on movable arms on the robot’s front and sides. The front arm was capable of being lowered and raised via a cable mechanism, allowing Blazing Hot Wheels’ front disc to attack opponents of different heights. Blazing Hot Wheels also featured an LED board on its turret which displayed its name and other scrolling messages in Chinese scripture, as well as four metal prongs on its front edge to help get underneath opponents easier and prevent them from driving away.
Robot History[]
King of Bots (Season 1)[]
Blazing Hot Wheels competed in Episode 2, where it fought the Japanese clusterbot Ninja General in the first round.
In the opening seconds, it slowly advanced towards the blue part of Ninja General and rammed into the red part, but soon backed itself into one of the grinders. As Blazing Hot Wheels turned around, the grinder tore off its left disc, which continued spinning on its axle. After this, it lingered near the circular saws, its right disc making contact with one of the saws as they rose out of the floor. Blazing Hot Wheels sustained a rear-on ram from the red part of Ninja General as well as damage to its right-hand side from the circular saws; seconds later, it pushed the blue part of Ninja General into the wall spikes before grinding away at the latter’s spinning weapon.
The two robots separated, with Blazing Hot Wheels bumping into the wall and reversing just as a nearby hammer swung down. It collected and pushed the red part of Ninja General back in the process, although not without briefly catching fire as it accidentally drove over the flame jets. Blazing Hot Wheels’ saw lowered, sparks flying as it damaged the robot’s own left-most prong. It continued to sustain pressure from Ninja General and pushed the blue part back again in the closing seconds, with the battle going to a close Judges’ decision. The decision went against Blazing Hot Wheels, eliminating it from the competition.
