剑齿象α, 剑齿象β (translated as Stegodon α and Stegodon β) was a multibot from Hong Kong which competed in the first season of King of Bots. In its only appearance, it lost to Whirlwind via knockout after both segments were immobilized by various attacks from the latter.

Design

Stegodon α (red) and Stegodon β (dark blue) were a pair of identical two-wheeled, invertible box-shaped robots, armed with an unusual set of four chainsaw weapons. Two chainsaws were mounted on each side of both robots – one on top, one at the base – which surrounded the wheels and allowed them to attack from the front, sides and rear.

Season 1

Whirlwind vs Stegodon beta — Stegodon β has its side armor torn off by a knockout blow from Whirlwind

Stegodon α and Stegodon β appeared in Episode 3, where it fought Whirlwind in the first round. At the start, Stegodon α left the red square to approach Whirlwind while Stegodon β waited; however, Stegodon β was quickly attacked by Whirlwind, which buckled one of its front panels and sent several bolts flying out of it. Both Stegodon α and Stegodon β moved sluggishly in the center of the arena after this, with the latter being pursued and hit by Whirlwind again. The impact spun Stegodon β around and tore several parts of its side off, including a whole panel; after this, Stegodon β rolled towards the wall, stopped and began smoking.

Stegodon beta fire — Stegodon β catches fire

Stegodon α, meanwhile, lost mobility on one side, and was violently rammed by Whirlwind once the latter’s spinning weapon stopped rotating. The attack sent it rolling towards one of the grinders, which tore off one of its rear armor panels, where it struggled to drive properly. Both Stegodon α and Stegodon β were considered immobile at this point, resulting in the whole multibot being counted out and eliminated via knock-out. An electrical fire developed inside Stegodon β following the attack by Whirlwind, which was extinguished by a fire marshal once the flames spread through its internals.

Two of Weng Yongyang’s bipedal robots made an additional appearance in Episode 3, where they were controlled onstage by the show’s commentators.
